North Yorkshire Moors

North Yorkshire Moors National Park became a National park in 1952 and is one of 15 in the United Kingdom. It covers an area of 554 square miles (1,436 square kilometres) and has 26 miles of coastline. 43% of the North Yorkshire Moors lies in the borough of Scarborough.

Hackness Grange lies on the edge of the park and we are in prime position for you to explore all the history and nature that this beautiful National Park has to offer.

  • Follow the Cleveland Way National Trail which forms a horseshoe around the North York Moors starting in Helmsley and finishing in Filey.
  • 22% of the National Park is Woodland and Forest and places like Dalby forest are an excellent destination to go exploring.
  • There are stunning coastlines, secluded bays and miles of sandy beaches to explore.
  • Enjoy the postcard scenery with long walks along the coasts and moors.
  • Follow the nature trails looking for Merlin – Britain’s smallest bird of prey.
  • Enjoy the drama of the heather filled moorland which covers a third of the National Park.
